![]() | So you feel entitled to a sense of control And make decisions that you think are your own You are a stranger here, why have you come? Why have you come, lift me higher, let me look at the sun Look at the sun and once I hear them clearly, say Who, who are you really? And where, where are you going? I've got nothing left to prove Cause I've got nothing left to lose See me bare my teeth for you Who, who are you? Now you're moving on and you say you're alone Suspicious that this string is moving your bones We are the fire, we see how they run See how they run, lift me higher, let me look at the sun Look at the sun and once I hear them clearly, say Who, who are you really? And where, where are you going? I've got nothing left to prove Cause I've got nothing left to lose See me bare my teeth for you See me bare my teeth |

| My asymmetrical and non-linear understanding (misunderstanding of) the past few years are only like a dog who bites someones hand. It's reflex; by the time the newspaper is swatted at it, it's too late. The dog has forgotten everything but shame and self defeat - but not the why. |
| Militant, direct, and justice-oriented, Agent Washington is the product of far too many variables tunneling in on him at once. He has assumed role after role as it was required of him over time - soldier, military operative, recovery agent, prisoner, antagonist, and finally, leader and friend. After the events on Chorus, the cocktail of relief, concern, and grief of that war's conclusion had left him all but drained, and more than ready for a moment of respite. With the Reds and Blues, Washington felt closer to the man called "David" than he had in years, even if he was still achingly far from the mark. It was easy for him to fall into step, upon his arrival; easy for him to become the bastion of solidity and leadership that kept him together back on Chorus. The landscape and circumstances around him are always changing, but Washington is nothing if not adaptable. He considers that one of his few assets, and it's certainly had its use here. |

Shut your mouth 'cause you're never quiet
You put it out when I tried to light it
This is a race that I will not lose
I'll chase it 'til my legs give out
What is it you want from me?
To become what you would be?
But I would rather take my chances
At running like the wind to take advantage, but until then
Go ahead and cast your little judgmental glances
I'm not defenseless
Stomp aloud and flaunt your oh-so pompous stature
I'm where perception plays an
Important role in how you control them
I'm not going to waste my breath on
Giving up to who you want me to be
It's what I want when nobody had my back
It's what I need when I'm feeling all alone
And what I want is just to know to myself
Is that nobody else will break me down.
When I do what I love
I find myself looking back again
And as I wait for you all
To judge my every move that I make
You'd love to watch me go down again
And I would come to know that
You'll never support this
Wash owes him for everything he asked of him, and for the aftermath, and for what he did to his team after the fact. He owes him for guilting him into risking his life and facing death and worse. He owes him for that, and more than he knows how to quantify.
He just has no idea how to go about dealing with it.
